Natrii sulphis;
CAS: 7757-83-7
Formula: Na2SO3
Appearance: White crystalline powder
EINECS: 231-821-4
HS Code: 2832100000

Appearance and properties: White crystalline powder
Density: 2.63
Melting point: 500 °C
Water solubility: 23 g/100ml (20 C)
Refractive index: 1.484
Storage conditions/storage methods: low temperature in the warehouse, ventilation, drying
Stability correlation:
  1. Soluble in water, the aqueous solution is alkaline. Slightly soluble in alcohol. Insoluble in liquid chlorine and ammonia. As a strong reducing agent, it reacts with sulfur dioxide to generate sodium bisulfite, and reacts with strong acid to generate corresponding salt and release sulfur dioxide.
  2. As a strong reducing agent, it is easy to oxidize under the action of humid air and sunlight, but it is more stable than sodium sulfite heptahydrate. Decomposition occurs when heated.
Manufacture Provides Sodium Sulfite Na2so3 CAS No. 7757-83-7
Preparation
Sodium sulfite can be prepared by introducing sulfur dioxide into sodium hydroxide solution, and when sulfur dioxide is excessive, sodium bisulfite is generated. Or introducing sulfur dioxide gas into the sodium carbonate solution, adding the sodium carbonate solution after saturation, crystallizing to obtain heptahydrate crystals, and heating to dehydrate to obtain anhydrous sodium sulfite.

Uses
1.Anhydrous sodium sulfite can be used as man-made fiber stabilizer, fabric bleaching agent, photographic developer, dye and bleaching deoxidizer, perfume and dye reducing agent, papermaking lignin remover, etc.;
2.It can be used as deoxidizer and bleaching agent in printing and dyeing industry, and can be used in the cooking of various cotton fabrics, which can prevent local oxidation of cotton fibers from affecting fiber strength and improve the whiteness of cooked products.
3.It can also be used to make cellulose sulfite, sodium thiosulfate, organic chemicals, bleached fabrics, etc., and also used as reducing agent, preservative, dechlorination agent, etc.
4.It is used for microanalysis and determination of tellurium and niobium, preparation of developer solutions, reducing agent and developer in photosensitive industry.
5.Organic industry is used as reducing agent in the production of m-phenylenediamine, 2,5-dichloropyrazolone, anthraquinone -1- sulfonic acid, 1- aminoanthraquinone and sodium aminosalicylate, which can prevent the oxidation of semi-finished products in the reaction process.
6.Used as reducing agent in the production of dehydrated vegetables.
7.Paper industry is used as lignin remover.
8.The textile industry is used as a stabilizer for man-made fibers.
9.Used as common analytical reagent and photosensitive resistance material, the electronic industry is used to manufacture photosensitive resistance.
10.The water treatment industry is used to treat electroplating wastewater and drinking water.
