Triisopropanolamine is an organic compound with the structural formula [CH3CH(OH)CH2]3N. Because the salts generated by triisopropanolamine and long-chain fatty acids have good coloring stability, they are used as emulsifiers to prepare zincate additives, ferrous metal rust inhibitors, cutting coolants, cement enhancers, printing and dyeing softeners, Gas absorbent and antioxidant, as well as auxiliary agents such as soaps, detergents and cosmetics, can also be used in pharmaceutical raw materials, photographic developer solvents. It is used as a solvent for paraffin oil in the rayon industry.

Usages:
Used as pharmaceutical raw materials, solvent for photographic developer, solvent for paraffin oil in rayon, emulsifier for cosmetics, etc. Triisopropanolamine can be used as gas absorbent, antioxidant; as grinding aid in cement industry; fiber Industrially used as refining agent, antistatic agent, dyeing auxiliaries, fiber wetting agent; used as antioxidant and plasticizer in lubricating oil and cutting oil; used as cross-linking agent in plastic industry; also used as titanium dioxide, Dispersants for minerals and curing agents in the polyurethane industry, etc. Uses are mainly used for the synthesis of intermediates, and as a chain extender on PU and as a neutralizing agent on daily chemicals.

The production method uses liquid ammonia and propylene oxide as raw materials, uses water as a catalyst, prepares materials according to the molar ratio of liquid ammonia and propylene oxide as  3.00~3.05, and adds deionized water at one time, and the dosage ensures that the concentration of ammonia water is 28~ 60%; liquid ammonia and propylene oxide are divided into two feeds, each time first add half the amount of liquid ammonia, keep the temperature at 20 ~ 50 ºC, then slowly add half the amount of propylene oxide, stir well, and keep the kettle The internal pressure is below 0.5 MPa, the reaction temperature is 20 to 75 ° C, and is maintained for 1.0 to 3.0 hours; after the addition of propylene oxide, the temperature of the reaction kettle is controlled to 20 to 120 ° C, and the reaction is continued for 1.0 to 3.0 hours. When the water content is less than 5%, a triisopropanolamine product is obtained. The method can effectively suppress the production of monoisopropanolamine and diisopropanolamine, has simple process and low investment cost.
