The pure product is colorless crystals or white powder, and the crystals are often needle-like or prismatic. Industrial products may have a light yellow or gray tinge depending on their purity.

Soluble in water, acidic solution. Soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, etc., slightly soluble in benzene. It has strong hygroscopicity and is easy to deliquescent when exposed to air.

It is relatively stable at room temperature, but it is easy to decompose when exposed to strong acid, strong alkali or high temperature, releasing toxic gases such as hydrogen cyanide.
